Biography

At about age 10 started taking old t.v.'s home from the alley's and exchanging tubes to see what would happen. In tho's day everything had tubes and t.v. were black and white and colour had a round picture tube look. Liked to listen to a old cabinet radio that had shortwave frequencies on it and found the bands intresting from afar.

Used to visit a local electronic store near the north side of the Granville Bridge called The Ham Shack yes no pun intended that was the name of the store they sold older repaired t.v.'s / shortwave receivers / older army tank radios like the model 19, phonographs and electronic parts and communication equipment.

Was curious how these older store owner talked the world on their radios in the back corner of their store. It was a neat place to visit tho's days they had these large tube type transmitters making static noise contacts around the world.
Started really understand about real electronic repair theory at age 15 at a t.v. repair store after school and the weekends, then at 16 managed a Radio Shack which really got my electronic intrests for the future.

In 1977 started my active radio communication intrests on 11 metres for many years. Enjoyed talking to other on 27 mhz.

My fascination about radio communications is it's ability to augment my understanding of the earth's geomagnetic field and the sun's helio-electromagnetic field it's a very intresting solar event.
