Biography

As A Kid I went to a private school that had its own ham radio station, I never became a member but it was always there in the back of my mind. My Dad was a ships engineer and I was always interested in the radio room and the electrical side of things.
As a 4 yr old I remember listening on a sunday morning to the kids stories on the valve radio, the heat the glow , then dad got a transistor radio whoa that was cool but it had a weak tinnie sound, I heard the odd BBC transmission and listened to other stations that spoke different languages, and of course the odd marine station .
I never heard hams probably they where all using CW.
But always new it was there . I knew of a few people in my early life, who where hams and always wished I to could do that.
The uncle of my x wife was Norm zl1st (x telegraph op) and he encouraged me to do the night classes. Run By Bryce zl1axt
I passed in the early 80s.
Many of the people I met in those days are still in the hobby.
My other interests are computers, photography, astronomy, radio control model aircraft, I have a little lathe and a mill drill for home workshop.
