Biography

Laut Island OC-166 is an island in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan. The Sultanate of Banjar named it Laut-Pulo [1], as an area opposite the direction of Laut-Darat (Tanah Laut). On Laut Island, there is the city of Kotabaru which is the capital of Kotabaru Regency. The mountain on this island is Mount Bamega. This island used to be a kingdom, namely the Sea Island Kingdom (Poelau Laoet) or the Sigam Kingdom.

Pulau Laut is the largest island around the island of Borneo which is located on the east coast or to be precise in the southeastern part of the island of Borneo. For the size of Indonesia this island is classified as a small island because on the map of Indonesia it is almost invisible, administratively it has 6 sub-districts and 74 villages and 4 sub-districts in which there is the capital city of Kotabaru regency to be precise. in the northern part of Pulau Laut.

The sea island is a buffer for land shore abrasion from the coastal side in the southeast of the large island region of Kalimantan. Thus, Pulau Laut also contributes to the existence of the coastline in the Kalimantan Island region from the southeast side.
