Biography

I first got interested in Ham Radio in 1962. An "old" guy in our neighborhood was a ham and let us visit his shack. I was hooked for life! I do not know his call, but his name was Al and he was in Tampico, Illinois. That motivated me to pursue radio and electronics. I enlisted in the Navy in the late 60's and became an ET(N). I learned my code early on and went to the FCC office in Chicago to take the test, but for some reason it was closed. It was a long time until I got my ticket. However, I love Ham radio and everything related to it. I enjoy our local groups and clubs on 2m but really enjoy HF and DX. I have made many good friends because of Ham radio and I look forward to working you one of these days. My other hobbies include playing guitar, bass, mandolin, and banjo. I also enjoy oil painting. Have a Great Day!
