Biography

Began electronics in 1958 at the Fort Gordon Signal School, then to Fort Monmouth, NJ for microwave, followed by computer repair course. Biloxi, MS for troposcatter repair course with Air Force. Three tours in Vietnam and 3 in Germany. Retired from US Army Special Forces in 1984 as CWO-4. Ran a MARS station in Vietnam, Sacramento, and at home in NC. Worked at Cincinnati Electronics on tactical satellite programs and later moved to TRW-EPI for their tactical HF program. Transferred to TRW-Space & Defense and later retired.

Equipment

Two ea ICOM 7300, one ICOM 9700, One Jaesu 450D. Use a LOOP antenna, Off center dipole, end fed half wave antennas, & verticals, both at home set up and a complete HF, VHF, & UHF mobile utility trailer rigged for field days and support of club events. Use Ham Sticks, and other in sundry antennas for the occasion. Back up power is from solar panels and gas generators.
