Biography
My name is Todd and I have been a ham since 1975. I enjoy many areas of the hobby but my true love is and always has been DX. My station consists of a Yaesu FT920, Ameritron 811A amp, a SteppIR Urban beam. I am married with four children, and two of my children as well as my wife are licensed amateurs also. We now have 7 grandchildren (one of which is also licensed) and love being grandparents.
I also love computers and rely heavily on my "computerized" station. I can't imagine how I did it the "hard way" anymore without the use of clusters, electronic log books (I do still have my original paper logs though), automatic radio control, etc. Some would say that it takes away from the hobby but I think all the electronic gadgetry just helps me be a more "efficient" operator, especially at the ripe old age of 64! This is a must when the XYL says you spend too much time on the radio or the RF is getting into her favorite TV show because I'm beaming straight across the house to deep Asia! DX IS!
I was off the air for about 4 years due to a couple of home moves but as of 9/2025 I'm back on the air. I'm hoping to get a tower back up in the coming year. My SteppIR is currently on a roof tower above my garage. My webpage is currently offline but was wm8c.com and I hope over the winter of 2025/26 to get one resurrected.
My wife is also a ham N8YZI
