Biography

Owner of Malloy Communications. We design and build HF antennas for the military. Company still does ship board electronic repairs when needed. www.malloycommunications.com

Been a ham since 1977. Mostly CW. However CW is fading away, so I am on RTTY, or SSB. I use a Vibroplex bug, or a straight key only. No Iambic!! RTTY MODEM is a HAL P38 (Dos based) which I have used for many years, and it cranks really well.

Equipment

ICOM 718 SSB/CW
SGC 2000 for RTTY
Future Expansion: (wish list)

Another ICOM 718 Will use it for PSK-31.

ICOM 802 with antenna coulpler for long wire (ship board style). This radio is not popular with hams because it has no VFO. You must punch in a frequency, which is fine with me. It put out 150 watts all day and night. In part, I want to set it up for Airmail.

Tower: 50' Rohn 25G
Antennas:

80 meter dipole at 50 feet
30 meter dipole at 45 feet
40 meter dipole at 33 feet
20 meter dipole at 40 feet

Also a 3 band (20/17/15)with no tuner inbetween, conical monopole that I designed and built. It loads from 12 to 22.5 with a VSWR at each end of 2.5 to 2.5 with the average VSWR between the ends of the frequency range of 1.52. It radiates quite well, especially for a back yard. It really needs to be in an open field with no power lines etc. Patent pending.
