My greatest day in HAM RADIO was a visit to the Maratime Radio Historical Society radio station KPH in 2010. Toured both Bolinis TS and Point Reyas RS shacks. I have had the pleasure of working K6KPH on "Night of Nights" several times as well as working them several weekends. My first contact of the year for the last two years has been K6KPH. Quite a thrill. IF you are not up on K6KPH and M.R.H.R.do an internet search and check them out.

BIOGRAPHY (This is a wandering document but gives you some idea who I am and how I believe)

I am proud to be a product of the 60's.

I was raised in the mid-west in the very small town of Stanberry in Missouri.

My up bringing could be best be called "red-neck". I was raised to say "YES SIR and NO MAAM". When one gave his handshake it was a contract. When you told someone you would do something you did it.

My Dad was a WATCHMAKER educated at Elgin Watch Collage, Elgin, Illinois. He repaired watches and clocks and sold jewelry in our hometown. My Mother took care of the home, worked in the jewelry business and was a butician for the local funeral homes. Both Dad and Mom worked in civic projects. Dad was the fire-chief. Mom worked in many civic clubs and was my Cub Scout denmother. I was proud of my folks.

I did all the normal "small town" things as was the custom in those days. Boy Scouts, teen-town dances, football and basketball on friday nights and the like. Nothing real exciting but a great place to grow up. I was fortunate to be a member of the conference championship football team my senior year. I am an EAGLE SCOUT and a member of the Mic-0-Say "tribe" at Camp Giger scout reservation in Saint Jseph, Mo. I am a "KEEPER" paint station in that group, one step below the tribal council.

My first intruduction to HAM RADIO was through W0NRX Hobart Combs(sk) in Grant City, Missouri. Hobart was Grandmas "radio/TV man". One summer evening I fould myself listening to grandmas old SHORT WAVE radio. I soon learned from Hobart what HAM RADIO was about. I played with ham radio during highschool but never got licensed.

During a single year at Junior Collage I became interested in (horney over) a cute brunette and HAM RADIO and almost everyting else became back burner. That "cute brunette" is still around here somewhere, we have been married 43 years and counting.

ANYWAY after we were married I volunteered in Boy Scouting as an adult leader for several years. Later I then spent a couple of years as a reserve officer for the Saint Joseph Missouri Polise Department. My inerest in firearms led me to become a member of the combat pistol team. I won serveral trophies in combat postol matches and qualified EXPERT NRA POLICE pistol.

I have been a Missouri Department of Conservation Hunter Education Instructor for 28+ years. In 1996 was named STATE instructor of the year. I have had over10,000 students in my classes. I still ocasionally work in law enforcement with the conservation agents working on road patrols and deer decoy operations.

To keep the wolf from breaking down the door, I worked 32+ years in a livestock feed mill. My last job there was operating a stacking machine and stocking the floor with a as forklift. I used to tell folks that I just "forked around" at work. I was forced to retire due to severe schoulder injuries. I have since discovered that I also have a hand that refucse to work properly. Thank the LORD that my CW hand is still working somewhat? My fingers now try to outrun my brainAGE I SUSPECT!!!!

The XYL of 43 years (that HOT little brunette) is now retried from the VA and US Department of the Army after 27 years. She comuted 70 miles daily.

When my police reserve participation ended I again thought about ham radio. I contacted an old family friend K0KBD (sk) Jack Randall. He quickly had me learning CW and soon I was licensed as WD0BCX as a Novice (1977).

I credit Jack for my love of CWJack would be reading the newspaper, watching TV and carrying on a CW QSO and nerver miss a word. JACK WAS MY ELMER and I miss him very much.

I have upgraded twice and now hold my EXTRA (CODE QUAL). I changed my call to WD0BC when it became available. I have considered other calls but my Mother did the art work for my QSL card so a slight mod of the design and the card was correct.

For a living I worked 32 years in the livestock feed manufacturing business. I am retired due to severe schoulder injury suffered off the job. We live very conservatively and don't carry any debt, NONE. We ain't fancy but we aren't suching on wealfare or anything WE DIDN'T EARN!. WE worked for what we have. AND "YES" SOCIAL SECURITY IS EARNED NOT AN "ENTITLEMENT" as these political hacks try to tell you !

Politicly I am very CONSERVITAVE. I think that folks should take care of themselves. Dad told me many years ago "THE WORLD DOES NOT OWE YOU A LIVING"

I TRUELY BELIEVE their is another CIVIL WAR coming VERY SOON. The "leaders?" of this country want to take the FIREARMS away form the CITIZENS. They have screwed up this country so much that they are afraid of the PEOPLE.DIDN'T HITLER START WITH TAKING THE GUNS AWAY ??????

IT REALLY PISSES ME WHEN SOMEONE OR SOMETHING WANTS YOU TO DO SOMETHING THAT IS TOTALLY STUPID SUCH AS:

Standing in line at Wal-Mart with 25 items and CASH IN YOUR HANDGirs asks "Will that be all for you today?"NO CHIT I WANT 7 MORE ITEMS BUT HAVEN'T DECIDED WHAT THEY ARE YET !

We do not owe one cent to anyone, have ZERO CREDIT CARD DEBT! Its just too bad that MOST of the younger generation thinks that SOMEONE "OWES" them EVERYTHING and RIGHT NOW!

Our daughter is married to a software engineer and she has produced GAVIN JEFFREY BARTON my GRANDSONthe youngest MIZZU fan that I konw of at age 8 he tells us that he is going to MISSOURI UNIVERSITYand he MEANS IT!

We have been BLESSED. We were brought up on the AMERICAN DREAM!

SADLY I WONDER IF THAT DREAM CAN SURVIVE THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION ?????

My XYL's passion is her two registered quarter horses which she rides any day that the weather permits.

MY PASSION IS CW. 99.9% of my HF is CW with my ELECRAFT K3 or KX3 ! GREAT RADIOS !!!!!!!!!!

100% of the camping HAM RADIO is on my KX3 and BUDDISTICK .ALL CW!.

MAYBE CATCH YOU ON 20 METERS CW THIS AFTERNOON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (14.025+-)
