Biography

I have been a General since approx 1976, my twin brother WB7SOP, and my dad WB7OTT, are also Generals, and my Mom WB7VVE got her Advanced just to show off. My wife Julie is KD7LVS.

I have always built or worked on electronics equipment, worked as 3rd job at local TV/VCR repair shop, and my own repair business for many years. My Amateur Radio interest has been anything I can get my hands on, with many years devoted to AATV, and Microwave Stuff, RF Amps, Downconverters etc. I also make my own Printed Circuit Boards.

Having Parkinsons disease has slowed me down, but two recent Deep Brain Stimulation surgeries have really helped. Unfortunately it has affected my voice at times, so please be PATIENT as I am doing my best.

I worked 18+ years in commercial Aviation, with 15 years at America West Airlines in Phoenix, specialized in Quality Control, Non-destructive Testing, Aircraft Inspections, Engine Inspections, Precision Measuring Equipment, and finally Internal Evaluations. Started out in Avionics. I have the following licenses:
A&P Mechanics License
General RadioTelephone License

My Equipment Icom IC-746 PRO and Peaberry SDR Radio and a homebrew 34' vertical, with 3 sets of radials. Usually running about 50-75 watts.. (Icom is Down for Repair)

My newest Radio is a Software Defined Radio Kit by Peaberry V2, I built for 10,12,15, and 17 Meters, in a nice acrylic case, presently at 1 Watt output. I have added home built RF Amplifiers for 5 watts and up to 100 watts. I am currently using my SDR Peaberry and Amp at 50 watts.........I have also added a MosFet Pre-amplifier, and an Antenna Tuner.

I have just completed my 2nd Peaberry SDR V2, for 20/30/40/60 meters.

I am a big fan of SDR/QRP Low Power!!!!!

SDR Radio is so much fun, and great to operate, I would rather use SDR over my Icom 746 Pro.

Please see my WB7QDR/QRP page.
