Biography

Hello, I was licensed in 1974. I went to Portland, Oregon to the FCC office to take the test. I passed the tech test and General. At the time I thought you had to wait a year to take the advanced or extra. The FCC agent as if I wanted to take the advanced test and I did and pasted it. Never tried to take the extra test although I tried for a radio telegraph first class and passed the 25 wpm code but found out I had to be at sea as a apprentice before I could take the radio telegraph license.

I have been active through the 1990s and was also a Navy MARS operator. I enjoyed that and we moved and I dropped out of the MARs program and sold my ham gear.

I got back on the air in 2013. A good ham friend of mine sent me his old station to get on the air with, Earl KB7NJW. I have the station going all the time even tho the bands have not been that good. I work mostly CW on 20 mtrs collecting contacts and SKCC numbers. Also, check into the noon net on 40 mtrs. I QSL by slug mail, QRZ.com. Thanks for looking at my rap and cu on the air. 73s Rick WB7BTR

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Rig: Kenwood TS-50 with AT-50, Carolina Windom with choke ten feet down feed line.
SignaLink for CW, RTTY and other digital modes. I don't use the SignaLink very often as there is a lot of RF in the shack and causes it to lock up.
Work SSB, Digital, CW, FM, most liked mode os CW.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
