Biography

I got my Novice at 13. A neighbor and local ham, Jay Feuer was kind enough to help me with my Novice license and got my hobby started.

I received my General at 14..so have been a ham for over 45 years. Started with a Heathkit DX-60 and a Hallicrafters S-108 general coverage receiver.
Moved on to a Swan 500-C (1973) and a Swan MB-40A (1974)(Mobile solid state) which I operated for years.

In my early days, I loved to operate 10 meters which was really active with skip. I converted a Pearce-Simpson to a 10 meter rig, about 7 watts output with crystal controlled transmitting. Great when 10 meters was "in".

I added a FT-840 in the 90's as the main rig.
Sept 2013, I added a Yaesu FT-950 as the main rig. I use a simple dipole about 20 ft above the house.
