Biography

Retired in 2011 from local community college as a computer support technician after working in the computer industry for many years. Got back into ham radio after a 35 year absence. Purchased a like new ICOM 746PRO rig. Running 100 watts to 80 meter and 40 meter Windom Dipoles in an Inverted V configuration for 80 thru 6 meters. Have a reduced sloper for 160 meters. Also have a Center Fire quarter wave dipole for 2 meters. Previous rig was a Heathkit DX-60A transmitter and Lafayette HA-500 receiver, which I used for 45 years. Both still work well, but are a little behind in technology. Original shack was in the basement which was a bit cold in the winter. Converted old closet upstairs into new shack. Small but cozy, and warm.

Located in central upstate New York State, just north of the Mohawk Valley, at the foothills of the Addirondack Mountains. Elevation is 910 feet above sea level. Dolgeville is a small village of about 2000 population.

Member of the Fort Herkimer Amateur Radio Clup (FHARA), Herkimer County RACES and ARES, ARRL, Straight Key Century Club SKCC #11548T, and NAQCC #6274. Worked on Extra Class upgrade with FHARA study group. Passed the Extra Class Exam on March 20, 2013. Received ARRL VE Certification in September 2013.
