Biography

Licensed since Piscataway High School Middlesex County, NJ in 1963. Was a member of the school radio club, The Antenna Farmers. Graduated in 65 then attended RCA Institutes in NYC before going to work for a defense contractor during 'Nam. All through school and RCA I worked as a Carpenter/Millwright (Thanks Dad).
After that went to work for Scientific Products Division of American Hospital Supply as a Medical Lab Eqpt Service Field Engineer. They moved me to upstate NY to cover that service area. Wife Barbara and I raised 2 sons, both who have become licensed, as has my wife. My oldest son Bill, KB2KVN is an Interpretive Ranger with the National Park Service at the Saratoga Battlefield, My younger son, Craig was KB2KDP but married an Australian girl and they live in New South Wales where he is a Height Safety Specialist (Similar to our OSHA). He is VK2KDP and helped me get my other call, VK2RSG.

"Retired" from SP and went to work in the broadcast industry as a chief engineer at a FM Station. When the boss left there to manage a UHF TV Station he brought me with him. Retired from broadcast and the SBE after 20 years.

Started a Home Inspection business and also teach new inspectors - my 3rd "Profession". Doing that for last 19 years. Now 73, I am thinking of another retirement so I can play radio.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

A 3 tower antenna farm with antennas from 160 to 432 (SSB/CW). 3 el triband yagi at 20 meters. 160 dipole at 60 feet, 2 80 mtr dipoles oriented for EU/VK and JA/SA. 30 dipole, 40 dipole for N/S (East Coast) and 3 sloping dipoles sloping from 55 feet, 120 degrees spaced and steerable. 60 mtr dipole at 45 feet. 6 el 50 mhz at 55 feet & 17/12 3 el yagi at 50 ft. 17 ele yagi for 144 at 55 feet and 15 el yagi for 432 at 50 ft. FM is a dual band omni direction vertical at 57 feet. A new 160 vertical just installed with a beverage for receive.

Minimal amount of digital work. Live on 6/10 acres just within the boundary of Middleburgh Village.

Rigs are Elecraft K3 and a FT 911A. Do have an EXPERT 1.3K-FW but seldom use it. When I do, very seldom more than 400 watts. I figure many, many others are limited to 400 watts and they do well so ,,,, I have 225 countries worked and confirmed.

I do work SSB and CW on 50, 144 and 432. Also 146 & 440 FM. (NO 220 gear)
