Biography

(My name is Gary, but I go by Lee, and with that)

Good day to all,

I have recently gotten back on the air after about a 15-year hiatus. Kids and life got crazy, and it took a lot of my time. Now that they are mostly grown and out of the house. It is time to get back into the hobby I love.

I run UHF/VHF (mainly local repeaters in the Kansas City Area) and HF on 6 through 40 in the vehicle (a 2015 Kia Sportage), and 10-80 at the home QTH. I belong to my local club, South Side Amature Radio Club of Southern Kansas City A lot of new digital and SDR have come into the radio world since I stepped away, and trying to learn about them as I come across them. My main interest though is DX'ing along with the occasional 'Rag Chew' but mostly just having fun on the bands.

I run a Yaesu FT-891 with a ATAS 120a in the vehicle, and a FT-710 with a half-wave 80 Meter inverted V dipole at about 60 foot at the home QTH

Then for digital which I am now on almost everyday after years of dismissing it as "Not Real Ham Radio" and then got hooked, I use a old Lenovo Thinkstation, which is an upgrade from the old Hp laptop I was using, but I still use the laptop for Pota when I finally get around and do it. But most importantly, to the left of the radio there's a small bed for Ham Kitty (actual name is coco) but Ham kitty is better!

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Currently running a FT-710 as said above, into an LDG AT100Pro, at which that's connected to the Inverted V as described above. Currently using an old Toshiba TV as the external monitor with an active VGA adapter, so I don't blow the fuse on my radio.
