Biography

First licensed as WN0RZP in 1964.

After spending many years in the Kansas City area (a Kansas Jayhawk!), I now live near Tampa, Florida with my XYL KK4PJA. I'm active on HF, 6 meters, 2 meters and 440 MHz, especially during the summer months.

My QTH info: Grid Square EL87uv. I.T.U. Zone 8. When active on APRS, you might find my current position on aprs.fi.

I enjoy working 6 meter FT8 and SSB, and I'm often monitoring 14.300 on 20 meters and 7242 on 40 meters. I enjoy phone and digital modes, as well as VHF contesting. I participate in ARES and RACES and participate in local VHF nets. I'm a member of the Brandon Amateur Radio Society (BARS) https://brandonhamradio.org

My other hobbies include reading, computer hardware/software, science journals, travel, photography and the arts.

Equipment

My current gear includes an Icom IC-746, Icom IC-7300, Icom IC-718 and multiple transceivers for 144/440 MHz FM, DMR and C4FM.

A Yaesu FTM-200D is used for mobile and Yaesu Fusion. Other gear includes the excellent Shark RF openSPOT, SDRplay RSP2, and an Anytone AT-D878UV Plus, along with several Baofeng HTs.

I always desire a larger and higher antenna, especially for VHF and UHF!
