Biography

First licensed in 1965 as WN7DHQ and upgraded to General with my present call of WA7DHQ. My call has history and don't feel the need for a vanity call. My Elmers were my physics and electronics teachers (both licensed) and a great school station of Collins S-line gear. Loved the KWM-2, 30-L linear amp and Cushcraft beam. My first shack had a WRL Globe Chief with two crystals (40m), Hallicrafters Sky Buddy general coverage rcvr w/Heathkit Q-multiplier and 40m dipole. Eventually upgraded to a Heathkit HW-101 and Hygain 18V vertical. Now running ICOM IC-756Pro3 and Comet multiband vertical. Always been 100 watts or less so chasing DX and casual contesting has its challenges. Still, I am grateful to have been continuously licensed for 50+ years and loving every QSO that goes in my log. Invested 36 years as a motorcycle mechanic (mainly Honda Goldwings) and now living in Tucson, Arizona. Amateur radio is my first hobby and love it more than ever. Other hobbies came and went but "ham radio" is for life! 73 es gud DX.....

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
