Biography
Ham since age 12 (WN6BJQ) - 55+ years hamming.
Operate on all bands (HF/VHF/UHF), several mobile.
My primary HF station consists of a Yaesu FTdx10 connected to a 6BTV Vertical (with a bunch of ground radials) and a MFJ tuner - also added the 17M and 12M additions to the vertical. My delta-vee is fully operational, using a Palomar Engineers Hybrid Balun (80-2M)
As a second complete HF/VHF/UHF station, I use my IC-7000 and a matching AH-4 tuner (primarily CW and digital modes). I am also experimenting with a Yaesu FT-991A (HF/VHF/UHF - and C4FM with a PiStar-based hotspot).
The HF antennas are switched across the rigs, using a web-controlled switch from LZ2RR (outstanding product).
For UHF/VHF - I use my Yaesu FT-8500 in my truck, the IC-7000 (and Comet Vertical), the FT-991A with a discone, a Yaesu VX-1 HT or my Yaesu VX-8 HT for 'hand-held' mobile opersation.
Digital modes are very interesting to me, leveraging my expertise with computer systems (Windows, macOS, and debian linux). I love using FLDigi & Flrig as well as JTDX, WSTJ-X, HRD, JTalert, Log4OM2, Win4Yaesu, Cloudlog, GridTracker, CQRlog (linux), JT-Bridge (macOS), RUMLog (macOS) and AlarmeJE (linux). As much as I can, I use apps that can be run on any of the major OS's. Have also been testing HamPi, and running apps in virtual machines.
73's and stay healthy!
