Biography

I am a retired Texas State Guard Army Signals officer and US Marine Sgt veteran. I earned my Technician license in the summer of 2011. I am currently operating my base shack with a Yaesu F897 pushing 100 watts through a Comet GP15 and a UHV4 Comet and a Chamleon EMCOMM V2 at about 25 ft from ground level. I use a Diamond W8010 antenna for HF with my ICOM 7300. I also use a Yaesu 7800 for monitoring 2m and when I am out and about I use a Yaesu 8900. I have an AA Degree from National University, BSCS from Texas A&M and a MSCIS from Boston University. I served in the USMC from 82-89 and that is where I gained my electronics knowledge and interest in radios.I was an Texas State Guard Army Signals and Civil Affairs officer with 13 years. My combined time to military retirement is 20 years.

I enjoy FT8, JT8, Winlink, WiresX and DMR technology. I have a ZumSpot-R Pi. I also enjoy using Winlink. My newest accomplishments are creating a off grid solar radio system, which is working very well and is completely mobile. I have rccently started using JT8 and now that I passed my General I have been enjoying DX on HF.
