Biography

I was first licensed as KD4IMP in 1992 and held that from TECH+ through General then licensed Advanced 13wpm as KT4OA in 1996. Sometime after the turn of the century, I took the Extra class (wow, no more code requirement) and passed and kept KT4OA as my call. In 2004 I got the vanity call W4MMR. My elmer is N4WH who got me interested in ham radio and CW operation in the early 90s. I later paid this forward and elmered KE4LDK, KF4IJP, and KF4IJS. I enjoy all modes especially digital due to its friendliness with my QTH.

My station is in a subdivision so I have to use stealthy antennas which are a big challenge and headache at the same time. My current antennas are a 6-40m end-fed from EARCHI up a 10m pole, an attic offset dipole, and a delta loop cut for 10m that has worked very well. For logging I primarily use Logic 9 and N3FJPs software for contests and I have been using Log4OM which I found to be very good and now it is my backup logging program.

In my other life beyond the radio, I am the R&D engineering manager at a well known organization that makes marine electronic controls, cord reels, hose reels, and control cables.
