Biography

Been a ham for 50 years. Still prefer CW. I guess once you start with CW as a Novice, it has a way of getting in the blood. I am saddened that today's licensees do not start out with CW. I believe they miss quite a great experience since most never learn the code or gain any proficiency at CW. I enjoy using Begali paddles and keys.

You just seem to meet the nicest operators on CW. I like handling NTS traffic on CW and having casual CW qsos. Enjoy state qso parties and field day.

Not a big fan of phone modes, especially hearing some of the rudeness and obscenities that are voiced via ssb on the bands today. Recognizing how ham radio etiquette has degraded over the years, I would be embarrassed to demonstrate ham radio to an interested party in most of the SSB part of the bands today.

I like to build and tinker. I enjoy helping others with equipment or antenna issues. I enjoy restoring certain older equipment with new components.

Still marvel at the magic of radio and the friends I have made over the years. If you hear me, stop and say hello! But I promise you won't hear me on FT8!

Moved out of Georgetown county in 9-23 and moved to York County, SC.
