Biography
Lived in Richmond VA for 27 years and worked as a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic. many years with Overnite Trans. Moved back to Southwest Virginia (Washington County) in 1997 to my home place with my Wife of 42 years Darlene (AC4VE) Also 20WPM CW EXTRA Class,
Over my 58 years in the hobby I have been a Class room instructor and an instructor of Morse Code and Text for new hams and those wanting to up-grade when we had to have it for a license. The Wife and I are also VE's for ARRL and W5YI giving Amateur Radio Exams in Richmond at the McGuire Veterans Hospital for many years. I have Always be a die-hard CW operator working DX along with Contesting and just plain ole Rag-chewing on CW.
AS of May 2012 I have Retired from the work force as a Mechanic. At the Age of 69 now and with COPD it was time to get out.
I spend more time now with my Hobby that I have been in all my live as MY Father was W4YQW when I was born in 1947 born at home and when the Old Country Dr. spank me on the butt the first thing I heard when I came into this world was my Father Sending "CQ" on 40M CW.?
SO YOU DO SEE FOR ME AMATEUR RADIO IS NOT JUST A HOBBY, ITS A WAY OF LIFE.
