Biography

Retired from the US Army (Signal Corps) in 1988. I worked as an electronics technician at Fort Monmouth New Jersey, until my retirement in January 2009. I enjoy the HF bands and using CW in particular. I often operate QRP (FISTS #13705) and I'm grateful for operators that strain their ears to hear me. Digital modes run a close second as favorites to the CW mode. Other interests are computers and sailing. Former callsigns: WN2FVO, WA2FVO, KB2VB, WS2Y, AEM1WRW,DA2WR, VP2EFW, 8P9FW. Member: ARRL, Garden State Amateur Radio Association (GSARA), QCWA Chapter 138, Tamiami Amateur Radio Club (TARC).

Nowadays, you find me on the air during the summer months from my QTH in Melville, Long Island, New York, FN30gs. The winter months I'm QRV from my QTH in Venice, Florida (I'm allergic to snow and miserable weather).

In case you were wondering, no, I was not issued W2XYZ. I purchased the last four letters of the alphabet from the FCC (they'll sell anything nowadays-HI) and use a 2 for New Jersey, my original home state.
