Biography

Greetings! My name is Michael J.Bisbano - W1MBZ (formally KB1TPX)

Thank you for visiting my page.

My interest in radio began as a boy in the 1960s with SWL and Citizens' Band Radio. A few friends got their Amateur tickets back then, but I never did, though thrilled as I was to watch them. Many years later, I got into illegal 11-meter foolishness, until one day, when one of those old childhood buddies convinced me to study up for the test. I took both the Technician and General tests on the same day and passed both.

I enjoy the hobby and am interested in HFDX phone. I also enjoy responding to contestants, without actually competing, just for the fun, helping them achieve their numbers, and working on logging my States, Counties, Countries, Continents, Grid Squares, etc. into my logbook.

I work 160, 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, VHF/UHF, and 6 meters.

I am a Vietnam Era Veteran of the US Navy "Seabees" and retired after many years of various jobs in diverse capacities.

Thank you for visiting my page. I'm looking forward to hearing from you on the air, 73!

Worked DXCCs:

Icom HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver IC-706MKIIG, AT-7000 Auto Tuner, and an End Fed zep up and over the roof of the three-story converted factory building to a condominium complex.
