Biography

With the encouragement of my Uncle Gary, K9SG, in my early twenties I passed my technician exam and was assigned N9YEV. I was active for several years in Indiana before I was inflicted with "life-interuptus", a non-fatal disease with symptoms presenting themselves as work and family. After letting my license lapse for more than a decade, I returned to this wonderful hobby.

I received my new Technician license in the fall of 2013. A year later I received my General license. I enjoy participating in the local Orange County Radio Amateurs, ARES, Possum Trot Net ,and supporting local events.

My current focus is exploring WSJT-X on a Raspberry Pi 4 and Yaesu FT-817nd with inverted 80-6 M inverted antenna at 30 ft from the upstairs shack and downstairs (remote :-) on my tablet, and building a packet node on the terresterial amateur radio packet network (TARPN.)

I also enjoy working year round on the back porch, when not attending our kids' soccer matches or scouting events. I prefer LOTW or QRZ for confirmation, but will exchange QSL cards with SASE.

I hope to hear you on the bands. 73
