Biography

Licensed in October 1957, at age 14, as KN2DWR, while living in Upstate NY. Got the General Class 1 year later. Grasped CW quickly, and became certified by ARRL, earning their "Words Per Minute" (WPM) Code Proficiency Awards, at 20 WPM, 25 WPM, 30 WPM, and achieved the ARRL's top-of-the-line 35 WPM Code Proficiency Award.

Held K2DWR for many years, but with our re-location and retirement in NH, I used the FCC's vanity licensing system, and am now W1EBM.

Now 70, and have been active in the hobby for 57 years. With my retirement in 2011, I have the time to "play radio" and am enjoying it immensely!

Equipment

ICOM 756 pro3 and the ICOM PW1 amplifier, for 1 KW covering 160 meters to 10 meters.
Antennas include an 8-element Log Periodic from M2, at 100 ft on my 55g Rohn tower. And a 160m Inverted L with a 90 ft. Vertical leg (and 40 radials) and a 45 ft. Horizontal leg. Use a PalStar AT2K Antenna Tuner And operate CW most of the time, with a Vibroplex non-iambic keyer.
