Biography

First licensed in 1976 as Novice call sign WN4MWR. Upgraded to General in 1977 (WA4MWR). A move in 1982 warranted a call change to KA1GBJ, and finally my current Vanity call in 1999 (W0ZAP). Upgraded to Extra Class in March of 2017.

Interests are varied, but I mostly operate SSB on HF bands both from the home QTH as well as portable. Also have been active on JT65 of late. Some CW & Satellite.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Home Station: Icom IC-7300, Elecraft KX3/PX3/KXPA100, Kenwood TS-480SAT, Kenwood TS-711A, & Kenwood TS-811A. Antennas: TransWorld System for 80-10 meters, Comet GP-15 vertical for 6/144/440, Cushcraft A270-10S for 2/440 SSB. I also use various end-fed wires & dipoles.

Portable station: Icom IC-7300 running on a 40Ahr. Bioenno battery into a TransWorld vertical dipole system. The antenna covers HF bands 80 through 10 meters. Arrow Handheld beam antenna into an Icom IC-2730A Dual-band mobile unit for satellite work.
