| Biography I was first licensed in 1951 as WN0DYD at the age of 15. My dad got his call at the same time as WN0DYC. I operated from my boyhood home in Benson, MN, until going off to college in 1954. I built many tube type transmitters from scratch during the early days.Ham radio was set aside for a few years to raise a family of 4 daughters. Later W0DYD operated from Minnetonka, MN, 42 years. We moved into a Shakopee, MN, townhome in 2007 that has limited antenna space. Equipment consists of a Kenwwod TS590s and a Yaesu FT-100D. W0DYC became a silent key in April 1997 after an 11 year bout with Parkinson's disease. My youngest of four daughters who resides in Louisville, Colorado is also a ham (previously KB0CMM - now W0DYC, her deceased grandfather's call). My brother Maynard, WA0KNP, is active from Madison, MN. I retired in June 2001 from teaching school at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson, MN, in electronics, metrology and Computer System Technology. I continue to conduct Metrology/Quality seminars in industry. I also enjoy communicating on the internet with Echolink. I installed a Cushcraft MA5B in July 2011 and added a Kenwood TS590s in Nov 2011. I am back on HF (20 through 10) on CW,SSB, AM, FM, RTTY, PSK31, and other digital modes. In July 2015 I added the Ameritron Equipment Kenwood TS590s and TS430s | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
