Biography

Hello - My name is Eddie and I live on the coast of Southern Tasmania, at 60m above sea level, looking over Storm Bay, toward the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. My home station is currently very basic, consisting of a Baofeng DM1801 dual-band FM / DMR HT flashed with the OpenGD77 firmware.

Longer range QSO's over 2M and 70cm are facilitated via a 1/4 wave vertical mounted on my roof but I can access the local DMR repeater via the HT "rubber ducky" antenna @ 1W

I'm currently a foundation license holder with aspirations of moving to a standard or advanced license in the future and start working the HF bands.

I'm also an electrical engineer by trade and have always been fascinated by radios, propagation and all things communication (even though I'm a power engineer!).

I'm also a stroke survivor, having experienced a stroke in June 2020. I'm making a good recovery but ham radio has helped me keep my sanity during this period!

73's to you all,

Eddie wink

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
