Biography

Thanks for stopping by; My XYL Jodaerae and I along with our Dog "Lewis" live in Port Augusta which is known as the "Crossroads of Australia" and Gateway to the Flinders Ranges.

It's also the entrance to the South Australian Outback and the top of the Spencer Gulf, Port Augusta is 300klms North of the Capital City of Adelaide.

The Town is situated on the quiet waterways at the head of the Spencer Gulf, in close proximity to the spectacular Flinders Ranges.

Off to the West and South-West lie a range of hills which once marked the territory of the Nukunu Aboriginal tribe.

Port Augusta offers all the conveniences and facilities expected from a modern city. Choose from a comprehensive range of accommodation ranging from backpacker, camping, caravan parks, hotels & motels to medium price 4 star, as well as a selection of restaurants/cafes.

I'm employed by Wormald Fire Australia, Australias oldest Fire Service Company, as a Maintenance Electrician/Technician working on Fire Detection & Suppression in Mining, Power Generation, renewables, & Grain Handling.

Some of you may've previously spoken to me when I was STTO Comms for BAE Systems Aust working on the Woomera Rocket Range in Sth Australias Outback or previously VK5MFW. I'm still on the road around the Outback of SA running HF in my work truck.

My interests are of course Ham Radio, I've been playing with radio since 1973 started on 11m with a 1 watt hand held I'm still a member of the Alpha Tango world wide CB Radio Club. Restoring my 1967 GTA Mustang Convertable, building antennas for Ham Radio and 11m, repairing / restoring Vintage Ham Radio/CB radio transcievers and 6m portable QRP operation.
