| Biography Hi, I've been a HAM since the 70s. Started with a novice licence then. Mentored by the local broadcast radio boys VK5BG, VK5JY, VK5BB, VK5NW & VK5VM all now sadly silent keys. Love "Old Timers" great mates with Darcy VK5RJ who was 102 years old Dec 2012. Have daily contacts with Darcy on 40mt. He is a national treasure and might well be the oldest active HAM in the world. Please let me know if you know someone older who operates still. Enjoy Home Brew and kit building. Have an MKARS80 and MST40 txr both fabulous kits and beaut radios. Want to have a go at a SDR kit but not game just yet. Also Drew Diamond VK3XU(another national treasure not quite as old as Darcy) Amplifier. I regularly operate portable from Adelaide with TS50 + squid pole 80,40,20 mts with good results especially 20mt to QLD Hi Harrold VK4ANR, Lyn VK4SWE. All the best & 73 Ian VK5IS Equipment MKARS80, MST40, FT1000, IC756, Flex5000, TS50 and FL2100 + Drew Diamond Amp too. Dipole antennas + squid pole on 20mt at home. (heaps of ham shack junk too just to keep my wife Julie happy Hi Hi) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
