Biography

Greetings Fellow Ham's,

My Name is Gary, I live in Townsville, Queensland. I was ​first Licensed in1979 as a Novice Level Amateur, VK5NFG. Built most of my own equipment including Antenna and Radios in the early days but now like many Amateur Operators I have purchased new equipment to suit the digital modes. Now retired and living in Northern Australia after a career with the Australian Military and many years operating my own communications business. I am not a very active Amateur Radio Operator, however now I am retired that may change.

I am a member of the Wireless Institute of Australia, ARRL and also my local Radio Club, The Townsville Amateur Radio Club.

Shack Equipment - FTdx101MD Base Station, FT991A Base/Mobile (my favourite radio) - FT3D Handheld, FTM-400XDR, with a Yaesu HRI-200 running Wires-x - Node #59571. Room#69571 "Townsville City" . AE at present is aTrapped Vertical, a Temp measure until I find time to install my Tower.
