Biography

60 y/o, ex-Telstra field technician in rural Western Queensland (Tara, St. George and finally Toowoomba).


1980 - 1982 TARA Tech in Training. Manual exchange maintenance (for roughly a week in TARA), MEANDARRA, GLENMORGAN, THE GUMS, and FLINTON. RCMX maintenance COOMRITH. ARK521 exchange maintenance TARA, MEANDARRA, GLENMORGAN, THE GUMS, MOONIE and WESTMAR. CPE installations and maintenance through out the district.

1983 - 91 ST. GEORGE Technician, Tech Officer in Training Grade 1, Tech Officer Grade 1.
First in maintenance of a 10Kw AM broadcast station (4QW St. George) and a 10W vision 1W sound TV translator and associated broadband wireless repeaters.

Also did maintenance of largest lamp signalling switchboard exchange in the Southern Hemisphere at St. George in western Queensland, manual boards at Bollon, FLINTON, and THALLON.
ARK521 exchange maintenance (DIRRANBANDI, MALLAWA, THALLON, WEENGALLON, DRCS customer radio, V120 underground bearer system, Telettra 24 channel underground repeater system, open wire 3 channel carrier systems, various PPE open wire lines to customers premises and maintenance and installation of A/B coin public phones, CT-3's (Jolly green giants), blue phones, red phones, and gold phones as well as manual intercom boxes, automatic 800 series, T200 and T400 CPE instruments.

Phillips PABX, Commander Small Business systems installation and maintenance NB, D, F, HX, N, S (old),S (new), T systems, Simplex CPE additions and maintenance.

It was here I supported the community by becoming a Honorary Ambulance Officer, supporting the permanent officers with conducting training, assisting on callouts, manning the station during bad event when all permanent staff were out.

1991 - approx. 1996 TOOWOOMBA CPE and SBS Installer and sometime maintenance. Rarely DATA.
Part time Work Management Centre holiday relief.

It was here that I recommenced my State Emergency Service volunteer work (ultimately over 13 years) becoming the Communications Officer of the Toowoomba Unit.

1996 - 2005 Toowoomba WMC. Part of manual despatch team issuing TOW's to field staff via phone and then receiving clearances.

Trained as Trainer for AXIS Order system, and utilised to train Cairns staff missed during the initial rollout.
Work Force/Work Load Manager handling Central Queensland (Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Biloela, Dingo, Blackwater, Emerald, Blackall and Longreach fit and fix staff to manage CSG workload. Also had some input into training and recreation leave schedules for the field staff.
Requested the import of additional staff, or the supply of staff for National emergencies.

2007 trained as a Bowen therapist CERT IV level
2013 - moved to COOLOOLA COVE Southeast of GYMPIE near beautiful Fraser Island. NOT active on amateur bands.
RX NOAA and Meteor APT and trying for L Band satellite.
RX SSTV from ISS and FOX satellites.
RX and uploading FOX telemetry.
