| Biography Lorne R. Goodwin ( ex VE7BFL, VE5GL, VE7ENI, VE6EZ now VE7RK/ADZ is an advanced amateur (CP-45) who is a native of Prince George B.C. Canada. He was first licensed in 1960. He attended the University of B.C. and has spent the last 35 years working as a professional chemist. His major fields of study were in chloralkali, pulp and paper and herbicide chemistry. He specialized in mercury pollution abatement and environmental chemistry. He was a member of the AWWA Standards Methods Committee for the publication of the Standard Methods for the Analysis of Water and Wastewater. He has served on their Analytical Task Group for Sulfide. While a Research Scientist with the Alberta Government he published many papers in the area of sulfide analytical chemistry and analytical toxicology.
Lorne has also spent time working as a consultant internationally in the area of oilfield remediation.
VE7RK was a founding member (as VE7ENI) of the VE7ZZZ contest club who were very active in the late 70’s and in the 80’s. He is presently a member of the VE5RI contest club. He specializes in CW.
His Dad, Ross, the original VE7RK, (licensed for 70+ years) enjoyed many great times at “triple-zed”. Ross was an ex commercial op…so as Dad goes etc.
Lorne likes to operate RTTY and CW contests from his home low power station but operates the big ones from either VE5RI, VE6SV, or VE6JY. (multi).
Lorne is now located in Nelson, B.C. and is a member of the West Kootenay Amateur Radio Club. He is the Industry Canada Accredited Examiner for WKARC.
