Biography

Hi I was first licensed in 1969 as VE1APE. I operated from New Brunswick with a DX-100 ( probably called that since it weighed about 100 lbs, but a good CW rig).and Hammurland HQ129X. I moved to Ontario in 1976 and operated from 1980 to 1986 with a Yaesu FTDX-400 (which I still have and is operational), then like many of us, left the hobby for 20 years. I recently purchased a Kenwood TS570SG to use with a Hy-gain 18AVQ2 antenna and an MC-85 Kenwood microphone. This is the setup you are hearing now.

I recently thought I would try PSK31 so I use the above rig with a SignaLink USB, with Ham Radio Deluxe and DM780 V5.0. I am active on PSK31, RTTY, and would like to get into JT65A. I am EPC #04201 and DMC #04275.

The picture on my QSL card is Spencer Smith Park, Burlington Ontario. It is based on a watercolour by local artist Linda Boyd.

I use e-QSL, HRDlog.net, and LoTW as well as the bureau.

I still like chasing DX although I am limited with my antenna setup.
