Biography

Born in Montréal in 1951. Spoken languages: French and English. Presently retired since 2010. Worked at Hydro Québec for 31 years as tech.. Licensed Ham since 1977. Been married for 50 years. My wife has been very patient with me over the years, meaning she has put up with my numerous hobbies, including ham radio. My ham club is Union Métropolitaine des Sans Filistes de Montréal (VE2UMS) which is located on the East end of the island of Montréal.
We have 2 Children and 4 grandchildren. Presently, I'm working hard to better my head copy of CW code. Hard to learn these new skills with an old head, Hi Hi! I still have a way to go before I'm satisfied with that new skill. Lately, I've been participating more and more in CW contests. Been using MorseRunner to increase speed. My second call sign is VA2ZG which I seldom use for the moment. I live a few Km's South of downtown Montreal in (la belle province) de Québec in Canada.

73's to all. Hope to catch you on the air.

Ronald (Ron) VE2ESX/VA2ZG 2025-12-12.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Yaesu FTDX 3000 into 80 Meter inv V and into (40 to 6 meter) multiband resonnant inv V dipole made with 2 superimposed 450 ohm transmission lines at 30 FT. Not the best performer antenna but gets the job done and is quite resilient to heavy ice, snow and wind of harsh Canadian winters for at least 8 years now. I'm thinking of building a new set up to include Warc bands. I'd also like to build an HEXBeam for my next project. ☺

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
