Biography

Allow me to introduce myself to those of you whom have not met me before. My name is Stanley Lorne Parsons and most folks call me Stan. I was born in the fishing community of Hermitage, Newfoundland before Newfoundland became Canada's tenth Province.
I have held my Amateur Certificate since 19 March 1969 & Advanced Amateur Certificate since 10 September 1971. Have held call signs VE1ANZ in Dartmouth & Halifax, NS area, In Saint John & Hartland, NB; VE3BZX in Downsview, ON; VO2AS in Goose Bay, Labrador & VE1RY in Riverview, NB & Kingston-Greenwood, NS.
Over my 75 years I've had many occupations & interests, among which have included RCN, RCMP, Photographer & worked in several Departments at Michelin Tire Canada. During my 10 years of retirement I have been doing Photography as a hobby until getting back to my number one hobby of Amateur Radio. Finally on the 2nd of May 2019 I put VE1RY back on the air again. I didn't realize just how much I missed it until I got back on the air. My 1st Amateur Radio call was VE1ANZ back in 1969-1973, VE3BZX Jan-Sep 1970. Then in 1973-1976 I was in Goose Bay, Labrador with the call VO2AS. Next came VE1RY 1976-1981 in Riverview, NB, followed by VE1RY from 1981-1986 Kingston, NS until in Dec of 1986 we purchased our current house about 2 mins away in Greenwood, NS.
