Biography

As a child I tinkered with radio, but did not get my ticket until 1997. The first call was VA3BJL, which of course gave my initials. I then got the Canadian Advanced ticket and the American Extra ticket with the call KC8LKE. Eventually I changed to VA3ZB which I only use today.

My main interest started in CW, however I have migrated to PSK, FT8 and recently FT4. I use a Begali Sculpture but I also like to pound out the code on an old Coffin Bug from teh 1960's.

I have tried my hand a QRP with the QCX 40 rig and continue to be amazed at what 3.5 watts will do on HF.

If you hear me on the air, I would welcome you to have a nice chat with me.

Equipment

The rig is a TS590SG Kenwood, which is a most reliable and easy to use rig. The antenna is a G5RV up 30 ft., flat topped. This is a basic set up but it works well for me as I have some 250 DXCC confirmations.

The computer is a Dell and I am running N3FJP's logger.

I want to put up a 30 meter antenna one day to be able to benefit from all the good dx on that band.

I will see you on the air.

Thank you for reading my bio.
