Ονομάζομαι Λεωνίδας Μπαϊρακτάρης. Γεννήθηκα στην Ζυρίχη Ελβετίας, μεγάλωσα στην Αλεξάνδρεια Ημαθίας και διαμένω στον Άγιο Δημήτριο Αττικής. Ήμουν στο Ειδικό Τμήμα Φρουρών των Ηνωμένων Εθνών στο Ιράκ από το 1992 έως 1993. Ήμουν Πρόσκοπος από το 1973 έως 1983 και Έφορος Διοίκησης Τοπικής Εφορείας Προσκόπων Αλεξάνδρειας Περιφερειακής Εφορείας Ημαθίας από το 1993 έως 1995. Είμαι Απόστρατος Αξιωματικός Ιππικού – Τεθωρακισμένων, Αντιπρόεδρος ΔΣ του Συνδέσμου Αποστράτων Αξιωματικών και Υπαξιωματικών Στρατού (ΣΑΑΥΣ) και Βοηθός Γραφείου Δημοσίων Σχέσεων της Ένωσης Αποστράτων Αξιωματικών Στρατού (ΕΑΑΣ). Το 2011 απέκτησα το πτυχίο ραδιοερασιτέχνη εισαγωγικού επιπέδου αφού πρώτα παρακολούθησα εκπαιδευτικά σεμινάρια στον Σύλλογο Ελλήνων Ραδιοερασιτεχνών (ΣΕΡ) και πέρασα με επιτυχία τις εξετάσεις. Το πρώτο μου διακριτικό κλήσης ήταν SW1OCA και εργάστηκα στα 2 m VHF και 70 cm UHF. Το 2013 άρχισα να χρησιμοποιώ τις ζώνες HF καθώς αναβαθμίστηκε η άδειά μου σε Κατηγορία 1 με διακριτικό SV1OCA. Το 2015 έγινα μέλος της Ένωσης Ελλήνων Ραδιοερασιτεχνών (ΕΕΡ). Έχω εργαστεί σε αρκετές DXpeditions και πολλές από αυτές ήταν νέες Ραδιοχώρες για μένα. Ασχολούμαι με την απόκτηση Διεθνών Ραδιοερασιτεχνικών Βραβείων, Βραβείων Ειδικών Εκδηλώσεων και μου αρέσει πολύ να συλλέγω Χάρτινες Κάρτες QSL.

My name is Leonidas Bairaktaris.
I was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1965.
I was raised in Alexandria, Imathia, Central Macedonia, Greece.
I live in the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios, Attica, Greece.
I was a UN Guard Contingent in Iraq (UNGCI) from 1992 to 1993.
I was a Boy Scout in Alexandria, Imathia in 1973 - 1983.
Amateur Radio Licence:
Entry level, 2011.
A-Class, 2013.
Education:
Non-Commissioned Officer Army Academy, 1983.
Armour School, 1985.
Infantry School, 2014.
Profession:
Armour-Cavalry Retired Senior Officer, 2017.
A few words:
I passed the entry-level amateur radio operator degree exams in 2011 after attending training courses at the Ham Association of Greece (HAG). My first callsign was SW1OCA and I worked on 2 m VHF and 70 cm UHF. I upgraded my license to A-Class and got the callsign SV1OCA in 2013, then I started using the HF bands. I joined the Radio Amateur Association of Greece (RAAG) in 2015.
QSLing: The QSL card has been the most important part of Amateur Radio communications procedure for many years. To this principle, I like very much to collect paper QSL cards. The hint I have to give is that one has to send their QSL card after every QSO is done.
Adhere strictly to the DX Code of Conduct.
It's not how good you sound; it’s how you sound good.
It is not the class of license the amateur holds, but the class of the amateur that holds the license.
There is nothing impossible to him who will try - Οὐδὲν τοῖς θαρροῦσιν ἀνάλωτον (Plutarch, Life of Alexander 58.2.3).
