Biography

Hello everyone!

Thanks for visiting my page!

My name is Patrik and I am 15 years old at the moment. I'm on the air from March 2022.

I was using one of the alternative callsigns of tha Radioclub S59CST for personal use, before I got my own. I worked under a supervisor. The callsign was S53ATT, so for any contacts made with this station between March 2022 and 13 February 2024 please send QSL to the address on this page.

I love SWL Activity, especially BCL on Shortwave, using little transistor radios or commercial broadcast receivers, one such as on the profile picture. I'm starting to collect them. My collection includes an Europhon Professional 2, an ISP RCT-4020 (My favorite - on the picture), a Leotec LT-2008...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

!!ATTENTION!! If anybody of you has a unused, working shortwave transistor radio, that only catches dust and you don't mind giving it away, you can e-mail me as I like experimenting and receiving HF commercial broadcasters. If you can, I'd appreciate it very much!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like ham radio, because I do not have a smartphone, so I was always interested in communications without wires. In September 2021 I found a small CB radio in a box and asked my father (that has a diploma in electronics), what is that. We then tried to set it up, and I was on the air a bit later! I started to chat, and then I obtained my license.

As my first transceiver, I was using a CRT SS6900N with 30 Watts and 10 meters. I made A LOT of contacts with this radio (encluding DX that I didn't even know I did:-) ).

Then, on a local repeater on 2 meters FM, I met a lot of very kind and good people like Andrea IV3RYX, Sergio IV3ZEW, Dario IV3BKN, Giorgio IV3BKO (SK 2022 :-(( ) and many others, that I don't know the callsigns... :-) All of them are very kind and helpful, they got me some transceivers, antennas, ideas, other accsessories...

I am also very greatful to other Slovenian amateurs, especially to amateurs in Radioclub Jadran, S59CST, where I got my first experiences in ham radio. Thanks!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm active on:

2 meters FM (YAESU FTM-10),

HF 40 - 10 meters (ICOM IC 728 100W and CRT SS6900N 30W for 10 meters),

And CB 40 channels of course! :-)).

Antennas:

Inverted V Homebrew originally designed for 20 meters, but with MFJ-971 Tuner 40-15 meters (Thanks to IV3ZEW),

T2LT Antenna homebrew originally designed for CB (27MHz), but with Tuner 12-10 meters,

And loads of other homebrew or gifted antennas that I don't use this frequently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will probably most find me on 20 meters (responding or calling CQ almost every Saturday evening or midday), but you can also find me on other active bands occasionally, when they are open (10 Meters for example or 17 Meters).

I'm 80 % of the time active in SSB, 10% in SSTV (favourite mode Martin 2), 9% in RTTY and 1% in FT8, because I find it boring.

Everybody is welcome when I am calling!

Thanks for reading my BIO! Hope it wasn't boring!

73s and good DX

DE S57AP Patrik!
