Biography

R6DZR — Arsen, Anapa, Russia

Hello friends! I'm Arsen (R6DZR) — the guy who once received a simple radio as a gift… and never looked back.

What started as a small experiment turned into a full-blown ham radio passion.

How it all began

It started with a basic radio, then a more interesting model, my first VHF receiver, and my first homemade antenna.

I spent three months operating without a callsign — fully within the rules — while exploring VHF.

On June 5, 2025, I officially received my callsign R6DZR, and my ham radio journey took off.

In autumn, I moved into HF: purchased a Sun SDR2 Pro transceiver, connected an ATU-500 autotuner, and started experimenting seriously.

Equipment

Transceiver: Sun SDR2 Pro (20 W)

Amplifier: 150 W (ordered)

Autotuner: ATU-500

Power supply: 30 A

HF antennas: Inverted-V for 40 / 20 / 15 / 10 m — my first completely homemade HF antenna. 1:1 balun hand-wound by me.

VHF antennas: Vertical + 5-element Yagi on 145.500 MHz, also fully homemade.

Operating style

I enjoy all bands — no exceptions.

Main modes: FT8 and SSB.

I love experimenting more than just chatting: building, measuring, comparing, tuning, testing.

I plan to participate in contests and complete my RDA diploma across Russia.

About me

Outside radio, I work in car detailing — protective film, tinting, polishing, and cleaning.

Precision and accuracy are important in my work, which probably explains why I love building and perfectly tuning antennas by hand.

QSL Information

All options welcome — via bureau, eQSL, LoTW, or direct.

If we make contact, write to me — always happy to exchange QSLs.
