Hello! Thank you for coming to see me! I live in the old Russian city - Kargopol. It was founded in 1146. Kargopol is the birthplace of A.A. Baranov. Russian merchant Alexander Andreyevich Baranov was the governor of Alaska in 1790-1818. He was born in 1746 in Kargopol. For 28 years he studied the board of Alaska north-west coast of America and established trade relations with Hawaii, China and California. He founded Archangel (now Sitka), which became the capital of Alaska, Fort Russ in California was built with his permission. Shipyards and educational institutions started to work. With virtually unlimited power in Alaska, Baranov did not amass the fabulous condition, he was a man of honest and selflessness. А number of geographical features in the area of ​​Alaska were called in memory of Baranov, there are the monuments of Baranov in Sitka and native Kargopol.
