Equipment

I use an endfed antenna between two apartment blocks. This is less than ideal.
A great toy I use is the Anan 100 transceiver (also know an a Hermes HPSDR). It now uses something called 'pre-distortion' That's a fancy word for linearizing the transmission path using the instrument transfer function of the whole system, resulting in a very low IMD.

Since June 2016, it can use Controlled envelope single sideband (CESSB).
Better output without hitting the ALC. Have a look at http://www.arrl.org/files/file/QEX_Next_Issue/2014/Nov-Dec_2014/Hershberger_QEX_11_14.pdf

I also have an IC-7300. The Anan-100 is better in many respects. The only drawback that I can think of is the RF power output. It's not recommended to use more than 30W in digital modes. It heats up too much. In that respect the Icom is better but not in its capabilities compared to the Anan.

You'll find me mostly doing digital modes on the 10, 20 or 40m band with the Anan-100.
