Biography

Hi OM or SWL!

My name is Anton Draaisma and I live in Leeuwarden, which is in the northern part of the Netherlands. The Locatorcode is JO23ve, which makes it easier to find!

I started my hobby a while ago and I got started as SWL (PA0020SWL). Sent out quite some eQSLs and even got some nice replies back.

When I first got started with Radio, it was mainly FM DX-ing. The station KISS FM was one of the special ones I received via e-skip, from Madrid in Spain, over a 1000km.

Later on, I borrowed a E4000 SDR dongle and got scanning the VHF/UHF bands. I did this using a home-made antenna from parts of coaxial cable in an open dipole configuration. It worked better than a whip-antenna, which actually was quite amazing in my eyes.

Learned a lot and upgraded to SDR-Play with a mini-whip antenna. The world of HF opened for me and I listened a lot to the amateur bands like 10/20/40m . I decided I wanted more so I started to learn and passed my exam 1st time and got my call PD4AD finally on June 19th of 2017.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

1) A Baofeng UV82 (portable)

2) QYT-KT8900R (in the car, need to improve microphone here) with a JWX-window antenna (see http://home.planet.nl/~gmwan000/jwx.html)

3) Icom IC-7300 with an unknown endfed for 10/20/40m

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands. Click here and find out more about the project and how you can endorse it.
