Biography

Hello and thank you for visiting my QRZ page!

My name is Dre, and I have been a licensed radio amateur since 1979. Amateur radio has been a part of my life for many years, and after retiring, I was able to devote more time to this wonderful hobby once again.

Professionally, I spent 47 years working in electrical engineering at the same company throughout my entire career. Most of my work was carried out in the eastern part of the Netherlands and included electrical installations for hospitals, intensive care units, and other specialized technical projects. It was a career that I truly enjoyed and it continues to benefit me in amateur radio today.

Family has always been an important part of my life. My wife, Rieky, and I have been happily married for 50 years. Together we have two children—a daughter (47) and a son (42), PD1AG, who also shares my passion for amateur radio. We are also proud grandparents to four grandchildren, ranging in age from 10 to 20 years.

Following my retirement, I completely renewed my amateur radio station. The old antenna mast was replaced with a new box mast equipped with a 400 kg electric winch.

The antenna system currently consists of a Diamond X510N for VHF/UHF, a 12-element dual-band log-periodic antenna for 2 meters and 70 centimeters, a 10-element Anjo antenna for 2 meters, and a HYENDFED 4-band HF antenna installed in the garden.

In the shack, I'm operating with a Yaesu FT-7900R/E for VHF/UHF, an Icom IC-9700 for VHF, UHF and satellite work, and a Yaesu FT-2000 for HF. I also enjoy listening on my trusted ICOM IC-R70 receiver and an old converted Bosch mobile radio, which still performs remarkably well. Handheld radios for both 2 meters and 70 centimeters are always within easy reach.

Thank you for stopping by my page.

I wish you good health, excellent propagation, and many enjoyable QSOs.

73 and hope to work you on the air!
