Biography

Hi,

Welcome and thank you for looking me up. If you have had a QSO with me, I appreciate the contact.
I got interested in Short Wave Listening during my Electrical engineering studies in Arnhem (Pr: Gelderland) in the 1970s.
During my studies I have been able to acquire my first HF tube / transistor receiver: Sommerkamp (Yaesu) FR-50B.
I have operated this shortwave receiver during the 1970s with great pleasure, but sold it in the early 1980s.
My professional (international) life, based in Hengelo (Pr: Overijssel) for the next 30 years, got the better part of me and Short Wave Listening faded into the background, but SWL (Ham radio) re-appeared end of the 2000 first decade.
I acquired my Ham Novice-license in January 2009, my Ham Full-license in March 2010, gradually assembling,
operating my Ham radio station, liking digital modes, at times you may also find me in SSB / AM / FM mode on the ham bands.
I also enjoy the vastness and variation of the radio hobby, and of course all the friendly fellow radio operators.
Retired at the age of 62, April 1st 2015, I am enjoying my senior life among Family and (Feline) Friends.
Hobbies amongst others: Feline cats,Jogging, Ham radio, Space weather monitoring, Sci-Fi (Raumpatrouille, Foundation, Dune), Astronomy, Spaceflight(simulation), Digital vintage technologies.

Kind regards to you and your family, best 73 de PA0SLA / Jan.
