Biography

Hi Folks,

Thanks for checking out my QRZCQ profile.

I got interested in short wave listening (SWL) during my technical education (MTS-E / HTS-E) in Arnhem, Gelderland in the 1970s.

Doing holiday jobs during my studies I have been able to buy my first receiver: Sommerkamp (Yaesu) FR-50B.

I have operated this short wave receiver during the 1970s with great pleasure, but sold it in the early 1980s.

For the next 30 years my professional life in Hengelo, Overijssel got the better part of me and short wave listening faded into the background, but ham radio re-appeared end of the 2000 first decade.

I acquired my ham F-license in January 2009 and started gradually assembling / operating my ham radio station, liking digital modes, at times you may also find me in SSB / AM mode on the ham bands. I also enjoy the vastness and variation of the radio hobby, and of course all the friendly fellow radio operators.

Professionally I retired as Senior Exhibitions Manager from Thales Nederland, formerly known as SIGNAAL, in Hengelo, Overijssel early April 2015 at the age of 62. Now I am enjoying my retirement among Family and Friends.

Hobbies amongst others: Feline cats, Travelling, Jogging, Ham radio, Sci-Fi, Astronomy, Spaceflight, Digital technologies.

Find below an impression of my ham radio achievements.

That's all Folks, best 73 de PA0SLA / Jan.
