Biography

“Try to leave this world a little better than you found it,”(Robert Baden-Powell 1857-1941)

Hello dear visitor,

Thank you for visiting my profile. PLEASE, First of all, Radio for me is NOT just saying "robotic Style" 5-9 & 73s. It is about making the "connection", the friendship, picking that deeply buried weak signal from the noise, making a contact, making that very good feel in the heart of the people I talk to, and thereby cherising the human element in the communication!

I started my very nice hobby as a radio amateur in The Netherlands after my exam in the late 1970's. I have been retired since 2013 and since that year "full time" radio amateur. I am a Dutchman and have the Dutch call sign PAØMKO but I live in Germany and therefore also have a German call sign DD4MK. In the Philippines I have a Guest License as DU1 / PAØMKO. Some years I lived and worked in Austria and had there the call sign OE3DAA.

I am active on most bands from 160m to 2m, but also on 70- and 23cm, in Phone, CW and some other digital modes.
I am a very active person with Kids Day, Jamboree On The Air and as a Lighthouse Operator. In Austria I was a few years JOTA coordinator in Lower Austria for Club Telescout.org.

In the Netherlands I am a member of the V.R.Z.A. (Vereniging van Radio Zend Amateurs) and a member of the Romeo Foxtrot DX Club. In Germany I am a member of the D.A.R.C. (Deutscher Amateur Radio Club) and finally in the Philippines I am Lifetime International Associate Member(LIAM-0088)of P.A.R.A. (Philippine Amateur Radio Association Inc.)

My working conditions on HF :

Tranceiver : ICOM-7300 with an ICOM SM-30 microphone and ICOM SP-38 ext. speaker and a Kenwood TS-450s(at) with a Kenwood MC-60 microphone.

Antenna Tuner : LDG AT-600PROII Autotuner.

Power Amplifier : Home Brew Solid State (no tune) 600 Watt Amplifier.

Antenna : Fritzel FD-4 OCF Dipole, feed point 15 m above the ground.
Emergency Communication :

For over 44 years, HAM radio has been a vessel in my life to help my neighbors, whether on the same street where I live or thousands of miles away. Emergency communication provided by amateur radio that can be used when the telecommunications infrastructure of the regular emergency services is out of order or cannot be used or has even been destroyed. Radio amateurs are usually able to realize a radio emergency network in a short time, which provides local, regional, national and international message traffic, in collaboration with other Emcomm partners and radio amateurs all over the world. To ensure that my radio station can provide this service, my station is equipped with a generator (in case of power failure), solar cells connected to a large battery pack (in case of lack of fuel) and finally a wind generator (in case of darkness) or lack of sun).

Radio amateurs are people of the world and not just HAM’s and they are able to provide global emergency communications during disasters "around the world".
