Biography

Background:
Electronic education in the Danish Air Force.
Radio amateur certificate 1969 (class B, class A upgrade in 1971).
1970-71: Simpel home made rig for 80 m., 2 tubes TX. Then moving to a new QTH, but no large outdoor ant. possible.
1981-85: Some CW on 20/15 m., home made rig, 3 tubes TX. Ant.: 2 "hidden dipoles".
1985-90: Increasing noise problems, bad success. QRT

2019: Before its too late, the OM tries a new start with an old icom and lots of ferrite chokes. Still very noisy, phone QSOs are too difficult (and ant. very short for 80 m.). 60 and 160 m. are not possible.
So only QRS CW, pse.

Activities:
CW for fun on HF, no contests.
CW (/QRS) on 40-30-20 mainly, some on 17-15 meter bands when possible, a few on 80 meter (ant. vy short). Can't use 60 and 160 meter bands.

General problem:
Noise!

Equipment

My Rig 2019

Found an old nice IC-728 (covers nearly all HF bands, very easy to operate), pwr: 100 watts. I have installed a 500 Hz CW filter, but noise is still disturbing reception.

Ant: "Dipole" i.e. 2 x abt 8.1 m. wire, in the attic (with a funny radiation pattern, ok in some directions, bad in others).
Some would call it a modified G5RV. (Antenna not tested on 12-10 meters yet.) A manual ATU matches it for 10 to 80 m.
Normally, it works ok inside Europe, but isn't superb. And any DX is just great!
