Biography

Dear OM and YL. Thank you for your interest on my QRZ.Com entry. My name is Markus and i am on the radio since I am 10 years old as I looked and heard what my father was doing and who he was talking to. After he died in 1983 in an accident, I continue to use his CB transceiver a Senfor Skyline SM 2208 to be on the Air with my Skip "Tommy 5". The antenne I use was an City Star mounted on the balcony railing. As i got older, I had a radio built into each of my vehicles. Some Fiat´s and a Mercedes W123. In the year 2005 i lost contact with the radios and at least the corona virus brought me back to the devices. In March 2020 I start to learn for the license and now finaly I a HAM since November 2020 when i got my license.

Since March 2021 i learn CW with my new CT73 Paddle from Ukraine. When you hear me on CW please give slowly - i am beginner.

In June 2021 I built a new shack because the old one had become too small. Now there is enough space for more radios :-). The wall in front and the wall above the shack are fitted with acoustic absorbers. They are filled with 8 cm sheep wool to reduce sound and echo from the walls. Works fine.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

My shack: Icom 7300, Yaesu FT 897 with integrated YT 100 tuner (idea from Diego EC1CW), Yaesu FTM 400 XD for UHF/VHF and C4FM, Retevis RT3S for DMR and portable operation, Wouxon KG-UV8D and two really expensive :-) Baofeng UV-5R+ and retevis RT 85 also for portable operation.

I use a Behringer Ultravoice xm8500 Dynamic Microfone with an small Tube Preamplifier MIC 300 from Berhinger and a foot switch for the Ft 897 and the Icom 7300. It works really great and is not really expensive. Bevore this i use an electret Microfone but this type of Microfone will catch all the background noise of my shack and the Behringer didn´t do this because it is dynamic.

On QRP my working condition is a Yaesu FT 818ND, DX Patrol EZ Wire End Fed Antenna, ore some homemade end fed antennas and 6 Ah LiFePo4 Power from Eremit. With less weight i can talk many hours. My QRP Location changes. My familiy want´s to see the mountains and i will do QRP so we combine this and do both.

From time to time CB operation I use a CUNA CFM 2250 in original condition with 40 CB Channels and 4 Watts Output.

My antennas are: Diamond X6000 for UHF and VHF (under the roof) and a vertical for 10-15 meters. (President Himalaya). Under the roof of our house there is also a vertical dualband antenna mounted, which I use for the Retevis RT3S for DMR QSO´s. For HF i use an Chameleon Emcom II as Inverted V. Home Made manual Antenne Switch.
