Biography

I am new to amateur radio. I got my license on 9/6/16. I got a HF radio a week later. I am working at doing tons of stuff with Boy Scouts. I have two sons and a lovely wife of 14 years.

I have been with Kansas City Fire Department since 2005. Before that I served in the military including being a part of the 101st Airborne.

If you catch me in the air remember I am new so don't be surprised if I fumble around a bit. I was lucky enough to pass my technician and general class license at the same time.

And, if you are fortunate enough to donate anything to scouts let me know. Our troop could use a radio and some equipment. We have a few boys who are eager to get their licenses. Any help would be appreciated. Technician Class is fun but HF seems to be where the party is at.

That is all I have for now. If you need anything you can send me a PM I think.

As they seem to say on the air....73!

Equipment

ICOM 706(the original)

ICOM Battery Supply

ICOM AT-180

Hy Gain AV-620

WOUXUN UV-9D

Baofeng UV-82HP

End Fed antenna from AB7LT. He sells them on ebay and they work surprisingly well. It receives just as good as my HY Gain if not better. I am surprised just throwing a wire up in a tree can accomplish so much. Plus, it only cost $49.00 so that is a plus.
