Biography

Former Calls: KT9S, N9XBJ

I'm the Director of Cloud Engineering & DevOps at a process digitization / connected worker software company. I'm responsible for cloud infrastructure automation and continuous integration. I have an extensive background in software development, software integration, and unix system administration. I worked at Motorola from 2000-2011 until I decided it was time to escape from IL. I sold my snow blower, shovels, and took off for the land of lower taxes, warmer weather, and awesome beaches!

The photo is me (I'm the kid!) and my father (W4WOD) in Arlington Heights, IL around 1977.

When I have time for ham radio, I enjoy contesting and county hunting. I'm a member of the Florida Contest Group, 3905 Century Club (75M 100pt #2368, 40M 100pt #2119), and a past member of the Society of Midwest Contestors (SMC), the Motorola ARC and the McHenry County Wireless Assn (IL).

In the past I was an avid county hunter, but I've stopped keeping track of this elusive award as I don't have the time to acheive this milestone in this lifetime! I've worked 1650+ counties on my way to 3077.

I use an Icom IC-7300 and operate CW, SSB and even some FT8. I've got an end-fed half-wave dipole up about 30 feet between two tall palm trees. I do have some QRP interests as I've built a DSW-II (20m), a Rockmite (40m), and a Heathkit HW9 multiband HF rig. I also built a version of the michigan mighty-mite, a 1/2 watt cw transmitter which consists of only 7 parts! http://www.n9oh.com/qrp_tx.html

I'm also involved in the development of WriteLog Contesting Software (http://www.writelog.com) and some other fun Android development projects.

See ya on the air...
